Spider-Man 2 Official File Size Revealed by Limited Edition Console Box

Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the highly anticipated video game, is on the horizon, and fans eagerly await its release. However, we still have a bit of a wait, approximately two months, before the game becomes available to the public. But, in the meantime, there's something important we can do to get ready for this exciting event.

To ensure you have enough space on your gaming console for this new adventure, it's time to consider clearing out some of those giant games you no longer play.

File Size Revealed

A Twitter user known as @SpiderManCD has shared some intriguing information about the limited-edition console tied to Spider-Man 2. This special PlayStation console edition was recently announced, giving us a sneak peek into the game's file size.

According to details found on the back of this console's packaging, it appears that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will occupy a substantial amount of storage space, approximately 98GB. While this information has not yet been officially confirmed, it's regarded as credible due to its presence on an official PlayStation product.

Big Download

The indicated file size for Spider-Man 2 is notably larger than its predecessors on the PlayStation 5. To put this in perspective, the previous game, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, takes up around 54GB of storage, while Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales requires about 50GB.

The reason for this larger file size is logical. Spider-Man 2 boasts a game world that is supposedly twice the size of the original, including newly added areas like Queens and Brooklyn.  Furthermore, the game introduces two main protagonists this time around.

These factors, along with the increased visual and gameplay content, justify the larger file size and should help to address criticisms from some who have labelled the game as mere "DLC" (Downloadable Content).

Preparing for the Game

Since Spider-Man 2 is a rather substantial download, you should start making room on your console by removing other games you don't anticipate playing soon. Fortunately, there is still some time to revisit and complete games in your backlog, as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on October 20.

However, with other highly anticipated titles like Armored Core 6 and the PS5 release of Baldur's Gate 3 also on the horizon, managing your console's storage space may prove to be more challenging than it sounds.

Additional Drama

In other recent news related to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, there has been an outbreak of controversy on social media, reminiscent of past incidents like "PuddleGate." This time, the uproar centres around changes to Peter Parker's suit in the game.

A post on Twitter that went viral a few days ago has sparked a wave of passionate responses, with some fans expressing their displeasure by targeting PlayStation and the game developer, Insomniac. As it turns out, it wouldn't be a proper lead-up to the launch of an Insomniac game without some polarising drama and debates among fans.
